Altra Road & Trail Running Shoes

Altra grew out of a specialist running shop in Utah, where founders Golden Harper and Brian Beckstead explored how shoes could give runners more room and a different underfoot feel. That thinking remains central to the brand's road and trail footwear.

What Sets Altra Apart

• Room at the front: FootShape toe boxes are designed to give toes space to spread, while retaining a secure fit through the midfoot. The amount of room varies between models.
• Zero- and low-drop choices: Altra offers both level heel-to-forefoot platforms and low-drop designs, so it is worth checking the drop of your chosen shoe.
• Road and trail specialisms: From road cushioning to trail grip, each range has its own purpose rather than one design covering every run.

Best For: Runners and walkers who prefer a roomier toe box and want to choose cushioning, grip and heel-to-toe drop to suit their usual routes.
